DECORATIVE SELECTIVE PLATING FOR INJECTION MOULDINGS

Selective plating can be applied to enrich the decorative appearance and funcionality of plastic parts.

Using the 2-shot injection method, one plastic (usually ABS) is capable of accepting Chrome plating; the second plastic (usually PC) resists the Chrome plating process, allowing for freedom to design a wide range of decorative effects.

The plating process can also be used for EMI/RFI sheilding of electronics components, for example, data cable connector shields are often chrome or nickel plated.
